Jack and Jill Children's Cluster

The kids had a WONDERFUL time at Children's Cluster 2016. Lots of physics and math application in auto racing and track maintenance, highlighted by wonderful staff and event planners. Here are some scenes of the event.

Polymer Experiment

This was a "science experiment" whereby the children make natural polymer from egg white, baking soda, and vinegar (foam). Afterwards we did a "modified shrinky dink" since the plastic is a polymer, and when heated, polymers try to retain the original [smaller] state, it works with almost any plastic. So we took some gummies and melted down the back to tiny plastic (polymer) mini versions.

Children's Cluster

Children's Cluster is always chalked full of magnificent educational opportunities and great socialization with peers and friends. This year the conference was held at Great Wolf Lodge.

Workshops included, computer programming and animation sponsored by UT Dallas.
African Drummers and dancing - cultural education and African geography lesson.
The Children's Defense Fund Freedom School hosted an interactive literacy discussion.
Interactive "Mad Science" was the highlight with bubbling potions and "magical" science experiments.
Emergency medical technician spent time talking about safety: seat belts, helmets, and using good judgement in public.

And THEN, there was plenty of snacking and waterpark fun with Jack and Jill friends!!!

The Mad Scientist Convention

Hana was a wonderful host as she stood before her peers and gave the Welcoming Introduction to the Mad Scientist Convention!!

Dr. Magma demonstrated the "magic" of a black light on seemingly smooth, clean hands. "What's THAT?! Is that a spot? Where'd that come from? You MUST be a genius or someone special!!"
